I am a scientist who loves to understand how the natural world works. My passion is natural philosophy, which is the term originally used to describe the physical sciences, especially physics. Some people argue that understanding destroys the beauty and mystery of nature - I find that the more I know the more amazed I am at the natural world. It is a wonderful place and we should do our utmost to protect it.

My professional interests are:

- physics experiment and theory, with a current focus on plasmonics

- electronics and microprocessors

- software engineering

Apart from natural philosophy, my personal interests include music and photography.
